The Holmberg Bate Holmberg family

What I "know" about our ancestors

Swedish version

This is about our (large) family tree, which I have collected from various sources on the Internet.
Me and my wife can sum up a surprisingly large number of ancestors and relatives (180 088 as of 2026-05-19).
All relations are somewhere claimed to be true. I haven't made anything up.
But there are many ambiguities and perhaps inaccuracies. In cases where the sources are incompatible, I believe
the majority (if it is possible). Unfortunately, some errors may have been multiplied online.
The result is what I might call a best guess. Possible, maybe even probable, but not certain to be true.
It is virtually impossible to find the exact truth.

I did this because it's fun. Not to claim inheritance rights to anything.
Therefore, it doesn't matter too much if there are some small errors.

I can also mention that the percentage of DNA from an ancestor 10 generations away is 0.097%,
and 20 generations away 0.000095%. So even if I am related to Attila, we are not very similar.

My family tree can mainly be found on
Ancestry, but also (older) on MyHeritage, Geneanet, Find my past, and partly on FamilySearch , and (after 1600) on Geni .
(Let me know if something should be changed.)

I started with MyHeritage, and iterated between Gramps and MyHeritage to clean up errors.
When MyHeritage got stuck, I used Ancestry to get further.
However, Ancestry is a bit indiscriminate when adding things, and has no facilites for control,
so I brought the results back to MyHeritage. And kept iterating with Gramps.

As of 2024 I stopped using MyHeritage. Too expensive.

Some interesting names one can find in the tree (except for the most usual Swedish family names):
